Minnewaska’s McGinty Takes Fourth At State Golf Tournament 14 Jun 18

Minnewaska junior Madi McGinty took fourth place at the girls class 2A state golf tournament at Sand Creek Golf Club in Jordan.

McGinty shot a 70 on Wednesday and finishes with a 150.

Red Wing junior Sophia Yoeman followed up her record-setting 63 in round one, with a 66 on Wednesday, finishing with a 129 to win the individual title by eight strokes over teammate Leah Herzog.
Detroit Lakes took the team crown.

Lac qui Parle Valley’s Rachel Halvorson is the class A champion with a 155, edging Legacy Christian’s Sophie Grey by one shot. The Eagles also took the team title by one stroke over Legacy Christian Academy with a 714.

Blaine 7th-grader Kathryn Van Arrogan won the 3A title, Edina took the team title.

For the boys, Sleepy Eye United’s Ben Laffin won the individual title by one stroke, while his team shared the championship with Mounds Park Academy, both teams finished with a 641.

East Grand Fork’s Nate Deziel took the 2A crown, Holy Family Catholic is the team champion. 3A champions are Wayzata’s Tristan Nelko, and Maple Grove.
