Pawlenty MN Overtaxed

Former Minnesota governor and current Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim Pawlenty told the KMRS Community Connection program late last week that Minnesotans need tax relief.  He responded to a question about whether he would ever consider raising taxes to pay for infrastructure, schools, and other government services by noting that Minnesota is one of the five highest taxed states in the nation.  Pawlenty said he is not making any pledges, filling out interest group questionnaires, or “handcuffing myself to any interest group on any issues” in an effort to keep open any future budget negotiations.  Pawlenty will face off against the Republican-endorsed candidate Jeff Johnson in the August 14 primary to see who will be on the November general election ballot.  Full interview on kmrskkok.com.
