Lakers Edge Tigers In Baseball, MACA Dominates In Softball 15 May 18

BASEBALL
Minnewaska 4, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 3
GLENWOOD – Matt Gruber stuck out 11 and Minnewaska scored on a wild-pitch in the bottom of the sixth for a 4-3 win over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta on Tuesday at Marthaler Field in Glenwood.
Gruber tossed a complete game for the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits, he also had an RBI double at the plate. Connor Westberg was 3-3 with an RBI and run scored.
Chandler Vogel took the loss for the Tigers, pitching six innings allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits, walking five and striking out five. Parker Dierks was 2-3 with two RBI’s at the plate. The Tigers are now 6-8 while the Lakers improve to 10-4.

SOFTBALL
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 11, Benson 1 (5 inn)
BENSON – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta collected 18 hits in a 11-1 win over Benson on Tuesday.
Liz Dietz went 4-4 with three RBI’s and two runs while tossing five innings of one-run ball for the win. Bailey Marty was 4-4, Whitney DeMaris had three hits and two RBI’s, Karly Fehr drove in a pair, and Mackenzie Hockel added three hits for the Tigers who are 15-1 on the season.
