Bucs, Knights, & Owls All Earn Sweeps, Dietz Keeps Tigers Unbeaten 08 May 18

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 11, New London-Spicer 1 (5 inn)
MORRIS – Liz Dietz drove in five runs on two hits while tossing five innings of one-run ball and Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta defeated New London-Spicer 11-1 on Monday. Dietz gave up five hits while striking out two for her eighth win of the season, and anchored a Tigers offense that collected 10 hits. Jen Solvie went 2-3 with three RBI’s and the Tigers improve to 9-0 on the season. 

B-E 2, WHN 1 (6 inn) / B-E 7, WHN 5 (5 inn)
WHEATON – Brandon-Evansville took advantage of three Wheaton/Herman-Norcross errors to earn a 2-1 win in game one of a doubleheader on Monday.
The Warriors Maycee Tolifson tossed six innings and limited the Chargers to just three hits and two unearned runs, walking four and striking out four in a losing effort. The Chargers Mikenna Pattrin matched her six innings, allowing just a run on five hits with a walk and eight strikeouts for the win. 

In game two the Chargers got a pair of RBI’s from Allie Satterlie to earn the sweep with a 7-5 win. Kristen Kokett tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless ball to earn the win in relief. The Chargers have now won seven straight and are 9-4.
Tolifson again pitched tough in the circle for the Warriors, allowing just a run on two hits over three innings, but the Chargers got six runs (three earned) off Haley Johnson who took the loss. Alley Wilt had three RBI’s for the Warriors.

West Central Area 11, Ortonville 1 (5 inn) / West Central Area 19, Ortonville 8
ORTONVILLE – West Central Area improved to 12-3 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Ortonville on Monday.
The Knights took game one 11-1 on the back of four triples and three doubles. Game two was all Knights, winning 19-8. Briana Kreft threw all five innings of the first game and four innings in the second, striking out 16 total. Kreft along with Lexi Bright, Kaitlyn Sanstead, and Hailey Bennett recorded four hits on the night.

Minnewaska 12, Sauk Centre 11

Border West 7, B-E 4 / Border West 8, B-E 4
EVANSVILLE – Border West collected 12 hits to claim a 7-4 win over Brandon-Evansville in game one of a doubleheader on Monday in Evansville.
Nelson Schmidt went 3-4 with two runs, Sam Adelman had two hits with an RBI and three runs, Bryce Hoffman drove in two and the Bucs got six solid innings from starter Matt Thielen for the win. Brandon Merrit went 6.1 innings and took the loss, Keagan Schiele was 2-3 with an RBI, Gaven Jacobson had an RBI triple and scored two runs for the Chargers. 

In game two Sam Adelman helped his own cause with five RBI’s on three hits while tossing 6.2 innings for the win. Bryce Hoffman went 2-3 and the Bucs improve to 7-2. Jacobson had two RBI’s and Zack Haugen went 1-1 with an RBI while also tossing three scoreless innings of relief for the Chargers who fall to 6-4. 

Hancock 10, Hillcrest 1 / Hancock 6, Hillcrest 3
FERGUS FALLS – Hancock got a pair of complete games from their starters to earn a doubleheader sweep of Hillcrest on Monday.
Peyton Rohloff tossed a complete game allowing just two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out seven and the Owls took game one 10-1. Kody Bergett led the Owls offense going 3-3 with two RBI’s and two runs, Gideon Joos added a pair of RBI’s. 

Tanner Pahl went the distance in game two as the Owls completed the sweep with a 6-3 win. Pahl allowed three unearned runs on five hits with a walk and 12 strikeouts. Rohloff had two hits and two RBI’s, Colton Crowell was 2-3 and the Owls improved to 5-8. 

West Central Area 5, Ortonville 4 / West Central Area 11, Ortonville 10
BARRETT – West Central Area had to fend off two Ortonville comeback bids for a doubleheader sweep in Barrett on Monday.
The Knights jumped out to a 5-0 lead in game one, and held on for a 5-4 win after the Trojans scored one in the sixth and three more in the seventh.
Levi Larkin went 2-4 with two RBI’s at the plate, while Nathan Kaye allowed three unearned runs on nine hits over six innings for the win. Kaye struck out 10 and Levi Larkin notched the save. Nathan Strong took the loss for the Trojans, Elijah Cloos went 3-4 with a run. 

In game two the Knights had a commanding 10-0 lead and held on for an 11-10 win.
Trailing 10-0, the Trojans put together a seven-run bottom of the fourth, but a lone run in the top of the seventh by the Knights proved the difference as the Trojans answered with three in the bottom half, coming up a run short.
Sam Gullickson had four RBI’s for the Knights, Larkin drove in three on two hits and West Central Area improves to 7-3. Nate Treinen had two RBI’s for Ortonville who falls to 5-3.
