Dietz Tosses Gem As Tigers Rout Lakers, Chargers Sweep Knights 07 May 18

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 10, Minnewaska Area 0 (5 inn)
GLENWOOD – Liz Dietz tossed a complete game two-hitter and Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta defeated Minnewaska 10-0 on Friday.
Jen Solvie and MacKenzie Hockel anchored the lineup, each going 3-3 with a combined three RBI’s and five runs scored for the Tigers who improved to 8-0 on the season. Karly Fehr and Abbie McNally each had two RBI’s for the Tigers who busted the game open with a six-run fifth inning. Rachel Erickson took the loss and Minnewaska falls to 3-7.

B-E 5, WCA 2 (8 inn) / B-E 12, WCA 2 (5 inn)
BARRETT – Brandon-Evansville made a pair of statement wins on Friday with a doubleheader sweep of West Central Area.
Chargers scored three runs in the top of the eighth for a 5-2 win in game one. Mikenna Pattrin allowed two runs (one earned) over eight innings for the win. She struck out 12 while walking just two, and also had an RBI and run scored and Allie Satterlie went 2-3 with two RBI’s for the Chargers. Brianna Kreft allowed five runs (two earned) over eight innings and took the loss. She had nine strike outs and walked three, Madi Hansen was 2-3 at the plate. 

Game two the Chargers flexed their muscles, collecting 14 hits in a 12-2 win.
Maddie Otto went 3-3 with two RBI’s and two runs scored, Emily Bukkila was 3-4, and Pattrin drove in two. Sara Jacobson earned the win throwing three scoreless innings. Hailey Bennett suffered the loss for the Knights, allowing nine runs (six earned) on six hits, walking five with three strikeouts. The Chargers are now 7-4 while the Knights fall to 10-3.

BASEBALL
Hancock 5, Benson 4
BENSON – The Hancock Owls used four pitchers to piece together a 5-4 win over Benson on Friday.
Kody Bergett started, taking a no-decision allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits over three innings. Bergett struck out four and walked two, Peyton Rohloff earned the win in relief, with Preston Roholoff converting the save. Rohloff also drove in two at the plate for the Owls. Sam Lundebrek had two RBI’s for the Braves, Dan Lenarz took the loss. 

Breckenridge 24, Border West 9
BRECKENRIDGE – Breckenridge collected 18 hits en route to a 24-9 win over Border West on Friday.
Mitch Porter led the way going 4-5 with five RBI’s and three runs, three other Cowboys had three hits apiece as they put up nine runs in the second inning and 12 more in the fourth. Austin Kipp took the loss for the Buccaneers lasting just 1.2 innings, Nelson Schmidt, James Conroy, and Spencer Ellison each had two RBI’s for the Bucs. 

Brandon-Evansville 13, Ashby 2
ASHBY – Zack Haugen impressed in his first varsity start, tossing four innings of one-hit ball, allowing two unearned runs and striking out three in a 13-2 win for Brandon-Evansville.
Darrin Wibstad and Keagan Schiele each had three RBI’s and a run scored for the Chargers. 

Minnewaska 2, New London-Spicer 1
GLENWOOD – Matt Gruber outdueled New London-Spicer’s Will Roguske in Minnewaska’s 2-1 win on Friday.
Gruber allowed a run on four hits over 6.2 innings, walking three with eight strikeouts. Jake Hoffman provided just enough offense for the Lakers going 2-3 with an RBI. Roguske tossed six innings allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits with 11 strikeouts.
