Head, Pearson Earn UMAC POTW Honors 16 Apr 18


ST. PAUL, Minn. – One baseball pitcher and one men’s track athlete garnered Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Player of the Week honors for their performances last week.

On the mound, sophomore pitcher Michael Head earned his first career UMAC Pitcher of the Week nod. In the second game of a twin-bill with Crown, Head tossed six shutout innings and struck out eight in the team’s 14-2 win. Head has 21 strikeouts in 20.2 innings of work.

Earning his third Player of the Week award this school season is freshman sprinter Justin Pearson. He set five personal bests which included a second place time of 11.07 in the 100-meter dash at the Darrel Gourley Open at William Jewell College in Missouri. He currently ranks eighth in the 100 meters and 10th in the 200 meters in the central region.
