Gophers Dominate Tenth-Ranked Maryland At The Barn 19 Feb 18

MINNEAPOLIS – Behind three players scoring at least 20 points, Minnesota notched its third top-25 win of the season with a dominant 93-74 win over tenth ranked Maryland Sunday afternoon in front of a season-high crowd of 4,625 at Williams Arena. 

Gadiva Hubbard led all scorers with 22 points. Kenisha Bell contributed 21 points and six assists, becoming the 24th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. Destiny Pitts added 20 points adding nine rebounds. The Gophers bombarded Maryland by shooting 14-24 from 3-point range.
It’s the first time since 2004 that the team has won three consecutive games against ranked teams. The Gophers’ beat 20th-ranked Iowa on Jan. 21 before knocking off 23rd-ranked Michigan last week. They’re 21-6 overall, 11-3 in the Big Ten, currently tied with Nebraska for third place, just a game behind Maryland and Ohio St.

TALLAHASSEE – 14th-ranked Gopher softball team closed out the 2018 Big Ten/ACC Challenge Sunday morning with a loss to Notre Dame, 3-0. Danielle Parlich’s two-out single in the second inning was the lone hit of the day for Minnesota who fall to 5-4.

ATLANTA – The Gopher Baseball team ended its stay at the Atlanta Challenge with a 9-6 loss to Georgia St. on Sunday.

After plating two runs in the top of the first inning, Minnesota could not get out of its own way in the bottom of the inning as five hit batters and just one hit resulted in a 5-2 lead for Georgia State after one. The Gophers would finish with six hit batsmen on the day.

Luke Petterson went 3-5 with three RBIs for the Gophers who are 2-2.
