High Powered Otters End Storm’s Season In Section 6A Quarterfinals 08 Feb 18

Fergus Falls 10, Morris/Benson Area 0
FERGUS FALLS – Amy Johnson scored four goals and added an assist to lead Fergus Falls past Morris/Benson Area 10-0 in the girls section 6A quarterfinals on Thursday.
Ellie Andersen had two goals and two assists for the Otters who out-shot the Storm 37-7 and controlled the action from start to finish.
The Storm were able to fire off a couple of early shots on Otter goalie Jadyn McKeever, but were unable to muster much offensively. The Otters used a patient pass first style offense to control the puck and keep the pressure on Storm goalie Abbey Hoffman who made 27 saves in the losing effort.
The Otters are now 15-11 and will host River Lakes on Tuesday. The Storm’s season ends with a mark of 1-17.

Prairie Centre 8, Morris/Benson Area 1
BENSON – Prairie Centre exploded for five first period goals and Morris/Benson Area was never able to recover, falling to the North Stars 8-1 on Thursday.
Hunter Fletcher tallied a hat trick with an assist, Seth Dieters added a goal with two assists and the Stars got 18 saves from Isaiah DeFoe to improve to 11-11-1.
Zach Bruns scored the Storm’s lone goal on a feed from Jack Riley while Chase Engebretson made 20 saves in net before giving way to Mike Halvorson, who stopped seven of nine shots he faced. The Storm are now 7-11-1.

Hancock 71, Brandon-Evansville 48
HANCOCK – Noah Kannegiesser scored 40 points and Hancock shot 51 percent, including 10-21 from three-point range in a 71-48 victory over Brandon-Evansville.
It’s the eighth time this year Kannegiesser has scored at least 40 points in a game, as he adds on to his school record for career points.
Bennett Nienhaus scored 11, Connor Reese added eight points with seven rebounds the Owls remain red-hot with their 11th straight win, improving to 17-1.
James Strese led the Chargers with 13 points and six rebounds, Taylor Bitzan scored nine, Keagan Schiele chipped in with eight points and seven boards as they fall to 11-7.

Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 68, Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 49
WHEATON – KMS shot 55 percent and pulled away in the second half for a 68-49 win over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross.
The Saints led by five at the break but got hot in the second half despite connecting on just 18 percent from beyond the arc. Josh Peterson paced KMS with 22 points and nine rebounds, Ethan Hauge had 12 points, and Regan Carlson added 11 as they improve to 10-10.
Matt Thielen had 21 points with four steals for the Warriors who shot 45 percent, Hunter Johnson added 13 points. The Warriors have now lost eight in a row, falling to 2-14.

Hancock 51, Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 46
GRACEVILLE – Ashlyn Mattson and Tess Steiner combined for 31 points as Hancock held on for a 51-46 win over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.
Mattson finished with 17 points, six rebounds, and five steals while Steiner added 14 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals. The Owls shot 47 percent and are 11-7.
Emma Botker led the Wolverines with 14 points, Callie Vold had 11 and Tylaina Issendorf chipped in with nine points. The Wolverines are now 9-9.

Brandon-Evansville 53, Ashby 17
ASHBY – Brandon-Evansville dominated in every area of the game to earn a 53-17 rout of Ashby.
After holding the Arrows to just nine first half points, the Chargers defense got even stronger in the second half, allowing just seven points.
Sara Jacobson scored 17 points while Haddey Zastrow scored 12. In all nine Chargers scored and they’re now 10-11. The Arrows got 11 points from Josey Ness, falling to 4-15.
