No Injuries In Sunday’s Train Collision

Stevens County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Donnelly at 10:04 p.m. on Sunday, after a report of a vehicle being struck by a train.
33-year-old Aaron Erdahl of Donnelly wasn’t in his vehicle at the time of the collision, and escaped injury. The incident remains under investigation.

Local Youth Involved In Border Accident

A Bellingham teenager was injured last night after a one-vehicle accident near the South Dakota border.
17-year-old Anthony Charles Abramowski was a passenger in a vehicle driving east on Highway 68, near Canby, when it lost control, and went into the south ditch at 11:26 p.m.
Abramowski, plus the unidentified 16-year-old female driver, and another unidentified 17-year-old passenger were brought to the Sanford Clinic of Canby, but are expected to recover.

Details Emerge In Monday’s Fire

Law enforcement has identified the individual who passed away in an Alexandria blaze on Monday.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 410 Fillmore Street at 5:27 a.m., where they woke the residents with their pounding on the door. 19-year-old Shandiin Goodbird was killed in the fire, preliminary autopsy findings list smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning as the causes of death.
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office has not identified the full extent of her injuries, and the State Fire Marshall’s Office hasn’t announced the cause of the fire.

Stevens County Gobblers Enter The Home Stretch

You’ve still got a little more time to join in the 12th Annual Stevens County Gobblers Banquet.
Krosch says the banquet has proven very helpful to local non-profits, he dropped a $1,000.00 check for the Morris Trap Team last week. You can also elect to “bump up” your auction bid, with those extra dollars going directly to local trap teams.
The banquet starts at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Morris Armory. Youth tickets (ages 17 and under) are $20.00, it’s $45.00 for an individual adult ticket, and $55.00 for an adult couple. For tickets, call 320 760 6993.

2018 Politics Return To The Area

The Road To 2018 continues to run through our area.
On Monday, DFL Gubernatorial Candidate Erin Murphy visited New York Mills, and stopped in both Fergus Falls and Alexandria yesterday. During her appearances, she had Governor Mark Dayton’s $1.5 billion bonding proposal on her mind. While Murphy supports Dayton’s water quality initiative this legislative session, she wants to see bonding done annually.
