Early Run Paces Chargers In Win Over Arrows 16 Jan 18

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 64, Benson 35
BENSON – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta dominated on defense, holding Benson under 20 points in both halves en route to a 64-35 win over the Braves.
Jaret Johnson had 13 points with eight rebounds, Jackson Loge had 15 points and Camden Arndt added 12.
While the Tigers again put on a defensive display, the offense continues to come around shooting 49 percent from the floor, and totaling 18 assists as a team.
The Braves fall to 0-12, the Tigers have won five straight and are 7-7.

Brandon-Evansville 47, Ashby 30
ASHBY – Brandon-Evansville used a 23-2 run early in the game to coast to a 47-30 win over Ashby on Tuesday.
The Chargers shot a red-hot 60 percent in the first half while holding the Arrows to just 24 percent from the field. Darrin Wibstad came off the bench to lead the Chargers with 13 points, Tanner Bitzan earned player of the game with 11 points, nine rebounds and four steals, Taylor Bitzan added eight points with five rebounds and the Chargers are 7-5.
Christian Norby recorded a double-double for Ashby with 12 points and 13 rebounds, Scott Johnson led with 15 points as the Arrows fall to 2-8.

Ortonville 68, West Central Area 63
ORTONVILLE – A few empty possessions was the difference in the West Central Area Knights loss to Ortonville on Tuesday, 68-63.
Both teams hit 16 three-pointers with the Knights shooting 51 percent from the floor while the Trojans shot 45 percent.
The Trojans held a slight edge in rebounds 31-27, and turned the ball over 15 times compared to the Knights 17 which may have been the difference.
Tyson Powell scored 24 points, Caden Wellnitz had 20 for the Trojans who are 9-2.
The Knights had four players in double-figures, including Dawson Staples and Logan Paulson each with 15, Jack Van Kempen had 14 and Brady Sabolik added 10 as they fall to 5-6.

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 67, Ortonville 53
MORRIS – Malory Anderson recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tigers past Ortonville 67-53.
The Tiger shot 42 percent from the floor, including 9-19 from three-point range. Maddie Carrington hit three of those from long-range and finished with 11 points, Liz Dietz and Jenna Howden each added eight and the Tigers are 9-6. The Trojans are 8-4.

Hancock 59, Ashby 42
HANCOCK – Four Owls scored in double-figures and Hancock defeated Ashby 59-42.
Ashlyn Mattson had 18 points with five steals, Haley Mattson, Tess Steiner, and Lexi Staples each scored 11 and the Owls continued to build on their 11-point halftime lead late.
Steiner added five rebounds and four assists and Hancock is 6-3. Courtney Koefod had 14 points for the Arrows as they fall to 2-10.

MORRIS – Mayville/Portland edged Morris/Benson Area in a high-scoring affair on Tuesday, 8-7 from the Lee Community Center.
The Dawgs took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission before the teams combined for nine goals in the second period.
Sam Satrom scored the second of his four goals to give the Dawgs a 3-1 lead, but the Storm roared back with five consecutive goals from five different players. The Dawgs then tied the game at six after scoring three straight before the second intermission.
Satrom opened the third with his fourth and final goal, teammate Reece Groth followed with his fourth goal of the night before Zach Bruns pulled the Storm within one, before coming up short.
Bruns tallied a hat trick and added an assist, Jack Riley and Matt Tolifson each had a goal and two assists. Mike Halvorson and Kolby Goff each had two points for the Storm who got 41 saves from Chase Engebretson but fall to 5-8-1.
