WHEATON – Wheaton/Herman-Norcross pulled away late for a 61-54 win over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta on Friday night in Wheaton.
After a first half dominated by defense, the two teams went to halftime tied at 23. The second half was a different story as both teams came alive offensively, trading buckets until the Warriors were able to build up an eight point lead and hang on for the win.
The game featured 11 lead changes and was tied eight times. Emma Schmidt had a game-high 22 points and seven rebounds, Briona Edwards scored 12 of her 14 in the second half, Isabelle Schmidt finished with 10 points and six rebounds, Haley Johnson added nine.
Malory Anderson had 20 points with eight rebounds, Riley Decker hit four threes to finish with 16 and Maddie Carrington added 10 for the Tigers who fall to 7-5.
The Warriors remain unbeaten at 7-0.
