UMM Essay Contest Closing This Weekend 03 Jan 18

Stevens County students are running out of time to submit their essays for a cash prize.

The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) at the University of Minnesota, Morris is inviting any seventh-through-twelfth grader who lives in the County to address the question, “If Martin Luther King Jr. were alive today, what would he be working on in 2018?”

Contestants must produce an original, age-appropriate written or spoken work, between five and seven minutes-long by Sunday, January 7. The first-place winner will earn $150.00, and will deliver their presentation at the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Of Service. Second and third-place winners will each receive $50.00.

Only one entry is allowed per person, and they must be emailed to the OCE, with “Martin Luther King Day Contest” in the subject line.
