Prep Results: Balanced Attack Lifts Lakers Past Tigers 14 Dec 17

BOYS BASKETBALL
Minnewaska Area 52, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 41
GLENWOOD – Nine different Lakers scored as Minnewaska earned a 52-41 win over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta on Thursday night in Glenwood.
Garrett Jensen led the Lakers with 14 points and five rebounds, Jaeger Jergenson had 11 points, and Jackson Johnsrud added seven.
The Lakers hit four quick threes to build an early lead, and held the Tigers to just 4-20 shooting in the first half. They would hold off multiple comeback bids in the second half to improve to 4-0.
Tate Nelson led all scorers with 17 points, he was the only Tigers player to make a field goal in the first half, and his outside shooting kept them within striking distance late in the game.
Nelson added four rebounds, three assists and two steals to earn player of the game. Camden Arndt and Jaret Johnson scored nine each after getting shutout in the first half. With the loss the Tigers are 1-2.

Hancock 95, Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 39
HANCOCK – The Hancock Owls put on a shooting display on their way to a 95-39 win over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.
The Owls took a 44-point lead into halftime, and shot 65 percent from the floor as they improve to 4-0. Noah Kannegiesser scored 32 points with five rebounds, five assists and three steals. It was his lowest scoring output of the year, and through four games is averaging 39.5 points per game, second best in the state.
Bennett Nienhaus had 19 points and Tanner Pahl added 10.
Bryce Hoffmann led the Wolverines with 12 points, Sam Adelman chipped in with eight as they fall to 0-4.

Ortonville 66, West Central Area 45
BARRETT – Tyson Powell scored 31 points to lead Ortonville past West Central Area 66-45 on Thursday in Barrett.
Powell had 25 points by halftime on 9-10 shooting, 4-4 on three-pointers and the Trojans shot 51 percent on the night as they move to 5-0.
The Knights on the other hand shot just 33 percent for the night and had no answer for Powell early on, as they fell into a deep hole they couldn’t climb out of. Logan Paulson led the Knights with 16 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Brady Sabolik added nine points, four assists and three steals as the Knights fall to 2-1.

Montevideo 100, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 56
MONTEVIDEO – The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tigers 400 free relay team of Solomon Johnson, Hunter VanEps, Jando Ladner, and Christopher Just took first place, but the Tigers fell in team scoring to the Thunderhawks 100-56 on Thursday at the pool.
Just also took first in the 50 free, Dalton Dierks finished first in the 100 backstroke, and Joseph Goulet took first in the 100 breaststroke.
