Sauk Centre 73, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 42
MORRIS – Sauk Centre showed why they’re the top-ranked team in class 2A girls basketball with a 73-42 win over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta on Tuesday.
The Tigers kept the game close throughout the first half with their inside/outside combo of Malory Anderson and Maddie Carrington who combined for 22 of their 29 points.
In the second half the Mainstreeters’ suffocating press defense caused all sort of problems for the Tigers, who turned got only got 12 shots off compared to the Mainstreeters 28. The Tigers turned the ball over 24 times which led to numerous transition buckets for Sauk Centre who improve to 4-0.
Tori Peschel led the Streeters with 25 points and Kelsey Peschel added 14.
Anderson led the Tigers 19 points and nine rebounds, Carrington hit four threes and finished with 14, four rebounds and three steals as the Tigers fall to 3-1.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 66, Richland 30
RICHLAND – Wheaton/Herman-Norcross held Richland to just two points in the first and fourth quarter on their way to another dominant win, this time 66-30 on Tuesday.
Emma Schmidt narrowly missed a triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals while Briona Edwards added 13. Isabelle Schmidt, Maycee Tolifson, and Anna Rinke scored six each as the Warriors improve to 3-0.

Brandon-Evansville 48, Hillcrest Lutheran 38
EVANSVILLE – Brandon-Evansville grinded out a victory over Hillcrest 48-38 on Tuesday night in Evansville.
Sara Jacobson scored 12 to lead the Chargers who dealt with tough defensive pressure from the Comets all night, but in return played shutdown defense of their own. Six different Chargers recorded at least one steal and they improve to 2-2.
It was the season opener for the Comets who are 0-1.

West Central Area 58, Underwood 48
BARRETT – West Central Area survived an aggressive attacking style defense by Underwood for 58-48 win on Tuesday.
Lexi Bright led the way for the Knights with 22 points, five rebounds and six steals. Brianna Kreft had eight points with 14 rebounds, and Ella Van Kempen pulled down 10 boards with six points as the Knights improve to 3-1. The Rockets are now 1-1.

Minnewaska 68, New London-Spicer 56
GLENWOOD – Minnewaska had three players score in double-figures on their way to a 68-56 win over New London-Spicer on Tuesday.
Matt Gruber led with 17 points, Garrett Jensen had 15, and Jackson Johnsrud added 14 as the Lakers improve to 2-0.
Brandon Adelman had 19 for the Wildcats and Ander Arnold finished with 11 as they fall to 1-1.

Wadena-Deer Creek 8, Morris/Benson Area 1
MORRIS – Wadena-Deer Creek scored three goals in a eight minute span during the first period on their way to an 8-1 win over Morris/Benson Area.
The Wolverines added three more in the second for a 6-0 lead before Zach Bruns lit the lamp for the Storm.
Preston Warren had five points for the Wolverines with a goal and four assists. He was one of five Wolverines with multi-point performance. Max Phillips had two goals and an assist and goalie Noah Stevens stopped 12 shots as Wadena-Deer Creek moves to 3-0 on the season.
For Bruns it was his third goal of the year, Chase Engebretson made 40 saves as the Storm fall to 0-2.

MORRIS – The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tigers gymnastics team hosted Fergus Falls on Tuesday, falling to the Otters 126.225-109.
Highlights from the meet for the Tigers include Callie Snell setting a new personal best on the bars, beam, and in the all-around with a fifth place finish. Olivia Lebrija took first on the floor routine, third on vault and fourth in the all-around.
Katie Giese took fifth on vault and fourth on beam, while Kali Berlinger earned fourth on floor.
