Prep Results: Tigers Fall In Five-Set Section Championship Match 04 Nov 17

Section 3AA Championship
MARSHALL – The Marshall Tigers ended Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta’s bid for a third straight section 3AA title with a five-set win over the Tigers on Saturday night from Southwest MN St. in Marshall, 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 15-10.

After dropping the first two sets, the Tigers led all the way through the third set and held off a late rally by Marshall to force the fourth. 

In the fourth set, trailing by three the Tigers strung together five straight points and continued to build on their lead eventually winning to force a fifth and decisive set.

It was there, tied at four, Marshall put together a three point rally and never allowed the Tigers to get any closer, winning 15-10 to earn the section 3AA title.

Karly Fehr led the Tigers with 40 assists and 10 digs, Jenna Howden had 21 kills and Riley Decker added 31 digs for the Tigers who finish the year 21-6.

Marshall is now 26-7, and win the 3AA title after two years in class 3A. 

Section 6A Championship
Wadena-Deer Creek 3, Underwood 1

CROSS COUNTRY
ST. OLAF – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta’s Tate Nelson and Meredith Carrington competed at the class A cross country championships on Saturday at St. Olaf, with Nelson placing 124th and Carrington taking 136th.

West Central Area’s Jacob Bright finished ninth in boys results while sister Lexi took 39th. The Knights boys team was eight overall and girls took 15th.

Perham boys and girls each took first overall.
