GIRLS TENNIS
MORRIS – Playoff brackets for the section 6A Girls Tennis Tournament have been set, and the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta/West Central Area Tigers received the seventh-seed, pitting them against second-seeded Minnewaska Area Lakers on Monday, October 9th at 1:30. The Lakers beat the Tigers 7-0 in their lone meet on August 29th.

(6) Yellow Medicine East vs. (3) Lac qui Parle Valley, 12:00

Tournament will be played in Sartell. The semifinals will be on Wednesday, Oct. 11th, with individual and doubles on Monday Oct. 16th. 

SWIMMING & DIVING
Melrose Area 104, Gators 77
MELROSE – The MACA/Minnewaska/Benson/CGB Gators fell to Melrose on Tuesday 104-77.
Lacy Entzi took first in the 500 and 200 free, Julia Hoffmann placed first in the 100 breaststroke, and the 200 free relay team of Entzi, Hannah Hoffmann, Rachel Erickson, and Alli Fermite took first as well.

VOLLEYBALL
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 3, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 0
GROVE CITY – Senior Karly Fehr recorded her 3,000th career set assist and the MACA Tigers swept ACGC 25-18, 25-20, 25-19 on Thursday night in Grove City.
Fehr adds to an already decorated Tigers career with the milestone. She tallied 33 in the match, Jenna Howden had 15 kills, Jenna Larsen added 11, and Riley Decker chipped in with 21 digs for the Tigers who are now 14-3 overall, 10-1 in conference play. The Falcons fall to 4-13 overall.

Montevideo 3, Minnewaska Area 1
MONTEVIDEO – After dropping the first set, Montevideo took down Minnewaska in four, 23-25, 25-7, 25-11, 25-21.
Jessica Lanoue and Emma Thorfinnson each had 11 digs while Ellie Danielson added nine kills for the Lakers who fall to 4-16, 1-10 in West Central Conference action. The Thunder Hawks are 9-10, 5-6 in conference.

 

 

Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 3, Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 0
GRACEVILLE – The CGB Wolverines won the Pheasant Conference title with a sweep over their rivals Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Thursday, 25-19, 25-19, 25-20.
With the win, the Wolverines are 16-6 overall, and 7-0 in conference play with one game to go. The Warriors were the only threat to the Wolverines title hopes, but with the loss fall to 5-2 in conference play, 11-4 overall.
