Identities Of Victims And Driver In Benson Fatal Car Collision Released 02 Oct 17

Three people are dead after a two-vehicle crash southeast of Benson last weekend.

In a statement from Swift County Sheriff John Holtz, at around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, 24-year-old Dylan Peterson of Benson drove his vehicle through the intersection of 20th Avenue and 30th Street, ignoring the yield signs, and collided with another car, driven by 49-year-old Robert McGee of Benson.

We now know that McGee was transported to the Swift County Hospital, treated, and later released. We also know that Peterson had two passengers in his car: 23-year-old Austin Ardoff of Raymond and 23-year-old Autumn McLain of Willmar as passengers. All three have since passed away. We know that one of the passengers was pronounced dead on the scene, with Peterson and the second passenger taken to Benson Hospital in critical condition (and later airlifted to other facilities, including Saint Cloud Hospital).

The Minnesota State Patrol, the Swift County-Benson Ambulance, as well as the Benson Fire and Police Departments also responded to the scene. The incident remains under investigation, and alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor.
