Prep Results: Chargers Hold Off Bears Rally, Tigers Dominate Braves 23 Sep 17

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 35, Benson 16
BENSON – Camden Arndt exploded for a 70-yard touchdown run to highlight the MACA Tigers 35-16 win over Benson on Friday.
Arndt, who went for over 300 yards rushing last week, carried 14 times for 239 and two scores. Connor Koebernick was an effecient 5-5 passing, for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Aaron Zosel ran for two touchdowns for the Braves who fall to 0-4. The Tigers are now 2-2.

BOLD 23, Minnewaska 7
GLENWOOD – BOLD ran for 254 yards and held Minnewaska in check for a 23-7 win on Friday.
Gavin Voskia led the Warriors with 117 yards and a touchdown, Jordan Sagedahl threw for 73 and a score. BOLD is now 4-0.
Matt Gruber threw for 83 yards and hit Jackson Johnsrud for the Lakers lone score as they fall to 3-1.

Brandon-Evansville 27, Bertha-Hewitt 20
BRANDON – The B-E Chargers held off a late rally by Bertha-Hewitt to earn a 27-20 win on Friday night in Bertha.
After Andrew Becker’s 85-yard kick return touchdown gave the Bears an 8-7 lead, the Chargers went on to score the next 20 points to take a commanding 27-8 lead late into the fourth quarter.
The Bears though would open up their passing attack and scored two touchdowns in five minute span, then got the ball back after the Chargers failed to pick up a first down. The Bears drove to the Chargers 19-yard line with just 27 seconds left, but Tanner Bitzan and Chris Vinson hit Bears quarterback Adam Bauch on his pass attempt on fourth down, causing an incomplete pass, ending the threat.
Bitzan led the Chargers defensively with 12 tackles, Vinson had six with a forced fumble and James Strese added six tackles and a fumble recovery. The Chargers didn’t allow a Bears first down until the fourth quarter.
Keagan Schiele threw for 112 yards on 7-12 passing with a touchdown to Darrin Wibstad. Jake Hintermeister ran for 165 yards and two scores for the Chargers who are 3-1.
Bauch threw for 137 yards and a score, but the Bears rushing attack was held in check for just 25 yards and they fell to 3-1.

Hancock 34, Underwood 6
UNDERWOOD – Kaleb Koehl accounted for five touchdowns as the Hancock Owls defeated Underwood 34-6 on Friday.
Koehl had touchdown runs of 36, 40, and 61 yards, and threw for two more including a 91-yard strike to Daniel Milander.
Koehl threw for 243 yards and ran for another 213. Noah Kannegiesser hauled in 12 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown. Defensively Koehl led the team with 11 tackles and the Owls improved to 3-1.

Verndale 49, Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 6

Rothsay 52, Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 13
HERMAN – Wyatt Curtis ran for 225 yards with five touchdowns and Rothsay rolled to a 52-13 win over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Friday in Herman.
Trailing by just seven at halftime, the Warriors were shutdown in the second half, and allowed the Tigers to score on all four of their possessions.
Nelson Schmidt was 13-23, passing for 170 yards while running for 49 and a score. Christian Krump also scored for the Warriors who fall to 0-4. The Tigers have scored at least 52 points in each of their wins, and improve to 4-0.
