Prep Results: Owls Earn First Win Of Year, Knights Dominate Long Prairie Invite 12 Sep 17

ASHBY – The Hancock Owls earned their first win of the season with a five-set victory over Ashby, 25-19, 25-23, 17-25, 16-25, 15-8.
Tess Steiner led the Owls with 28 digs, four kills and two blocks. Ashlyn Mattson had 20 digs with seven assists and a block, Kyerra Carter chipped in with 19 digs. The Owls are 1-3 while the Arrows fall to 0-7.

Long Prairie/Grey Eagle Invitational
LONG PRAIRIE – 25 section teams met in Long Prairie for a cross country meet on Monday at the Long Prairie Country Club, and the West Central Area Knights took both team titles in boy and girls competition.
The Knights took the boys title with a 92, well ahead of Holdingford who took second with a 130.
Jacob Bright was the Knights top finisher, taking second place overall behind Staples-Motley’s Emmet Anderson. Jack Van Kempen placed 11th for the Knights.
The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tiger boys took 12th place with a 297. Noah Stewart was 28th overall while Tate Nelson took 44th, and Ben Hernandez finished 59th.
Benson/KMS took fourth in team competition while Border West was 22nd. Michael Haukos was the top Buccaneers finishers in 106th place.

In girls action, the Knights were first with a team score of 60, Albany took second with a 100. Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta finished sixth with a 188.
The Knight’s Lexi Bright took top honors for individual scoring and teammates Teagen Nelson and Bryn Fernholz finished eighth and tenth.
Meredith Carrington was the top Tigers finisher, taking seventh. Madelyn Siegel was 30th and Malory Anderson took 34th.
Benson/KMS finished 17th and Border West girls were 18th, Emma Schmidt finished 17th, Samantha Franzese took 82nd.

Brandon-Evansville had incomplete scores for both boys and girls.
