MORRIS – Ryan Bowman tossed eight dominant innings, but took a tough-luck loss when Osakis scored twice in the top of the ninth and defeated Morris 2-0 in legion baseball on Thursday from Chizek Field.

After Bowman allowed a batter to reach in the ninth, Toby Sayles was called-upon for relief, and allowed two hits including the game-winner. Bowman took the loss, allowing a run on six hits, walking six and striking out eight.

Brenden Goulet and Parker Dierks had the only hits for Morris, Alex Dougherty drew two walks and the Two-Niners wrapped up the regular season with a 4-13 record, and will now head into the playoffs on Tuesday.

Wheaton 4, Hancock 3
WHEATON – A three-run sixth inning was just enough to push the Wheaton Bandits past Hancock Post 29 in legion baseball on Thursday from Wheaton.

Collin Brown carried a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the inning, but couldn’t hold the Bandits offense down. Hancock got one back in the seventh but fell short and are now 4-7.

Brown took the loss, pitching six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits, walking one and striking out eight. Daniel Milander was 2-3 with a walk, and Cody Greiner had two RBI’s.

The Northwest Sub-District Legion playoff seeding have been set with the conclusion of the regular season on Thursday. Top seed will be defending district champion Glenwood/Lowry, and they receive a first-round bye.

The Morris Two-Niners are the fifth-seed and will face fourth-seed Brandon-Evansville in a play-in game from Evansville on Tuesday, July 11th with the winner getting Glenwood/Lowry on Thursday the 13th.

Wheaton is the second-seed and will host third-seeded Hancock on Thursday. Osakis has forfeited out of the tournament due to low numbers. Game times are subject to change.
