Prep Results: Morris’ Kirwin, B-E’s Sherman Qualify For State With First Place Finishes 19 Jun 17

ALEXANDRIA – Morris Area’s Morgan Kirwin led a field of 23 shooters at the class 4A Trap Shooting championships at Alexandria on Thursday, qualifying for state.

Krwin’s score of 91 put her in a five-way tie for first place, but her reverse run of 46 was the tiebreaker needed to claim the title, and a spot in the state championships at Minneapolis Gun Club in Prior Lake on June 24th. 

Morris Area’s Brady Cardwell had a score of 91 which put him in a tie for 41st place on varsity male high gun scoreboard. Cole Kannegiesser had the next highest score for Morris with an 86, Chandler Wilts had an 83, and Jarrett Carlsen scored a 77.

Also in class 4A, Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley’s Jacob Fischer tied for 29th place with a 92, and Brandon-Evansville is your class 2A champions with a score of 235. 

The Chargers Colten Sherman took first in the varsity male high gun scoring with a 50, while teammate Michael Schroeder tied St. James’ Nick Peterson with a 49, but took third due to losing the tiebreaker of reverse run scoring. 

Also in class 2A, Wheaton finished in 11th place, Minnewaska was close behind in 15th. Hancock took 27th place in the class A championships.
