Prep Results: Tiger Girls Five Strokes Back In Section Tourney Action At Oakdale 24 May 17

Section 3AA Girls Golf Tournament (Day One)
BUFFALO LAKE/HECTOR – The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tigers girls golf team finished tied for second in team scoring at day one of the Section 3AA girls golf tournament at Oakdale Golf Course in Buffal0 Lake -Hector on Wednesday.

The Tigers had a team score of 350, tying them with Marshall and five strokes back of Minnewaska in first place. The top five teams on day one qualify for a chance to win the section title on day two, which will be on Tuesday, May 30th.

Litchfield and Luverne were the other two qualifying teams.

Individually the Tigers were led by Shiori Legate with a team low 80, Peyton Hennen and Megan Kirkeide each carded an 89, Hannah Zimmel shot a 92, Miranda Hesse fired a 97, and Hannah Stahman rounded out the Tigers with a 107.

Overall individually, the Lakers Ashlyn Guggisberg had the low score of the day with a 75. Legate and Ana Schwarz of Marshall were tied for second with 80, the Lakers Madi McGinty and Worthington’s Anneke Weg took fourth with an 83.

Section 5A Boys/Girls Golf Tournament
BENSON – West Central Area shot a 445 taking sixth place at day one of the girls section 5A golf tournament at Benson Golf Course on Wednesday, while Lac qui Parle Valley took first place honors with a 347.

LQPV’s Rachel Halvorson and Minneota’s Heidi Guttormson each shot an 81 for first place overall. The Knights were led by Jessica St. Martin who took 16th place with a 95, Megan Findlay of Border West shot a 120 which placed her at 36th.

For the boys, the Knights settled for an eighth place finish with a 391, while Border West took tenth with a 401. Lac qui Parle Valley was once again first with a 328.

The Knights James Wiese and Jackson Merrick, along with the Bucs Carter Grimes carded 92’s and finished as part of a 5-way tie for 20th place. Brady Madsen of MACCRAY fired a 74 for top honors.
