Stevens County Republicans had a chance to listen to their candidates for the fall election in District 12-A.
Republicans held their Count Convention on Friday night. Candidate Nancy Taffe, of Morris, says her experience can provide the leadership our community needs, “I’ve owned my own business for the past 16 years, so I understand the difficulties of running a successful business. I’ve been a volunteer for te Torrey Westrom campaign for over a decade, so I understand tea rd work and dedication it takes to wim an election.”
Challenger Jeff Backer, of Browns Valley, says he as the experience to work with a variety of competing interests in the capital, “I have local government experience serving as mayor of Browns Valley, educational experience serving as a school board member, small business experience, 24 years as a business owner currently we employ 14 individuals.
Twenty-seven delegates and four alternates attended the event at the Morris American Legion.
District 12-A will endorse a candidate at their convention in Elbow Lake on March 22.
