Human Services Organizations Receive State Awards 16 Dec 13

The Minnesota Department of Human Services will be hosting their third annual Commissioner’s Circle of Excellence Awards ceremony today (Monday, 2 p.m.), honoring eight organizations that have made outstanding contributions to human services program clients in 2013.

Caring Hands Dental Clinic, a nonprofit dental clinic in Alexandria, is among the award recipients. The Clinic serves individuals on Minnesota Health Care Programs or those who don’t qualify for state insurance but do not make enough to afford a private dental office.

Hunger Solutions Minnesota, a comprehensive hunger relief organization based in St. Paul, is also set to recieve an award. Hunger Solutions Minnesota works to end hunger by taking action, advancing public policy and guiding grassroots advocacy on behalf of hungry Minnesotans statewide. Local food banks, including the Stevens County Foodshelf, participate with Hunger Solutions in an annual food drive in March.
