Pope County Man to be Sentenced for Sex Crimes 26 Jul 13

A Starbuck man will recieve his sentence Friday, July 26 in a criminal
sexual conduct case. Twenty-seven-year old Craig David Hookum was
charged on August 28, 2012 with six felony counts of criminal sexual
conduct. The charges note the victim was under the age of sixteen at
the time of the alleged incidents.

On April 30 of this year, Hookum entered an Alford plea and pled
guilty to one of the felony counts. An Alford Plea allows a defendant
to avoid pleading guilty while acknowledging the prosecutor has
evidence that could reasonably lead a judge or jury to a guilty
verdict. Hookum’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for today in Pope
County.
