A woman is dead after a crash on Hwy 28 yesterday, although her name won’t be released until later this afternoon. The Minnesota State Patrol reports that at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, her vehicle was headed west, from Glenwood to Starbuck, when she spun out on the ice and slid into the oncoming traffic of the east-bound lane. A Mack Truck, driven by 53-year-old Phillip Peterson of Glenwood, rear-ended her car, slid into a ditch, and struck an unoccupied third vehicle.
The Glenwood Police Department, Pope County Sheriff’s Office, and the Starbuck Police Department assisted at the scene.
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on I94 yesterday. About 3 p.m., a car driven by Lauren Peterson, 18, of Prior Lake spun out of the west-bound lane and into the east-bound lane where her car was broadsided by a second vehicle. A third, east bound car rear-ended the second car. Peterson and her three passengers (Jordan Playle, 19, of Elk River; Megan Sample, 18, of Rogers; and Danielle Renninger, 18, of Excelsior) all died. The condition and names of the other two drivers have not yet been released.
