A woman is dead after a crash on Hwy 28 yesterday. Steffanie Dahlseng, 26, of Starbuck died in the crash, now under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol. The patrol reports that at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, her vehicle was headed west, from Glenwood to Starbuck, when she spun out on the ice and slid into the oncoming traffic of the east-bound lane. A Mack Truck, driven by 53-year-old Phillip Peterson of Glenwood, rear-ended her car, slid into a ditch, and struck an unoccupied third vehicle. Peterson had no apparent injuries.
Dahlseng was the news editor of the Pope County Tribune. According to the Tribune, she was married to Paul Dahlseng, who farms in rural Starbuck. Dahlseng had worked for the paper since September of 2010.
The Glenwood Police Department, Pope County Sheriff’s Office, and the Starbuck Police Department assisted at the scene.
